Outfit Ideas for the Sari Wrap Skirt by Darn Good Yarn

This skirt is so fun. I had a lot of fun trying out different outfits and figuring out fun styles to wear with this one item. I narrowed down my 4 favorites and each one fits different seasons and occasions as well.

This skirt is so fun. I had a lot of fun trying out different outfits and figuring out fun styles to wear with this one item. I narrowed down my 4 favorites and each one fits different seasons and occasions as well.

Before we get into the outfits, here’s a little background on these skirts:

They’re 100% reclaimed from traditional sari material sourced in India and handmade at their partnered co-ops. That means that no 2 skirts are the same. They are double-layered (with two different patterns), making them reversible! They can also be tied to be a top, dress, and more They offer different lengths and sizes (from kids to plus sizes), with adjustable sizing when wrapping around. This gives the skirt something that will grow or shrink with you and any weight adjustments.

Lastly, with each skirt sold we plant 1 tree and donate $1 to the Darn Good Fund which pays for the educational and medical needs of their artisans and the artisan’s families.

Another amazing thing about Darn Good Yarn itself… They create and sell products that are good for our planet (reducing the impact on the environment and empowering hard-working people). They want to help their customers be transformed into empowered women who know they are worthy of unique fashion, unrestricted by their size.

A Few Quick Notes:

  • I’m 5’8″ and have a pant inseam of 35-36 inches (depending on the shoe). In all of these photos, I’m wearing the Women’s (0-12) Ankle Length Skirt.
  • My clothes vary on where I get them. I buy from re-sale shops, and antique shops and I do buy new ones as well. I try to stick to local, small businesses as much as possible (but within realistic means as well). I tend to gear towards classic styles and use new trends more so in accessories. If you want more details on the other items, comment and let me know. I can always update or create more detailed posts on individual outfits.

The Outfits

Western Jean Shirt

This is probably one of my favorite outfits. A classic western-style jean shirt tied at the waist, a sari wrap skirt (tied in the back), and some brown ankle boots (or barefoot if you are inside). And the necklace is the Fiesta Tassel Necklace also by Darn Good Yarn. This is that perfect spring/fall outfit and perfect for sitting out at the fire (or keeping an eye on my kids from the back porch).

White Linen Tank

Another go-to for me, especially in the current summer heat is this one. This skirt paired with a light thin tank is a perfect summer outfit. Light airy and goes great with sandals, flip flops a pair of lace ballet flats, or my personal favorite, barefoot.

Black Puff Sleeve Shirt

My skirt has black in it, so the black shirt really helps bring some of those darker tones out. I matched it up with my beaded black ballet flats (a re-sale shop find). This outfit is great for fall, and early winter.

Sheer Cream Tie-up Blouse

This outfit is a fun way to dress up the skirt. I’ve had this shirt for a good 6 years and is one I use a lot with “fancier” outfits. I tied it in the back and paired it with black wedge shoes (that I’ve also had for a good 6 years) to give it a fun “fancy” look. Perfect for fall and winter during those cool days. I also thought this would be a fun outfit for church.
